Solar Eclipse which is one of the most beautiful celestial phenomena and
undoubtedly one of the most impressive of these on the earth and the
creatures on it, attracts so many professional & amateur astronomers and
fanatics to itself.
This event depending on how the three objects, sun, moon and the earth are
aligned, and where the observer lies has different forms of view.
Total Solar Eclipse is the most important and considerable
type of eclipse. This event arises an umbral shadow on special points of the
earth and provides the opportunity for studying sun’s atmosphere which is not
easily possible on not-eclipsed times. We have another TSE which is going to
take place 29th of March. In the morning, the sun will get eclipsed
on the east coast of
Brazil
. The shadow finds its way through the
Atlantic Ocean
and then enters
Africa
and crosses this continent through
Benin
,
Togo
,
Ghana
,
Nigeria
,
Niger
,
Chad
,
Libya
and
Egypt
and thereafter gets to
Mediterranean Sea,
Turkey,
Russia
and will end in Magnolia. Iranians will just see the partial eclipsed sun in
the afternoon. The maximum eclipse in
Iran
will be about 90%, observable in the west of the country. In
Tehran
, the maximum eclipse is 70%.
Sayeh Research Institute as the first Iranian eclipse chasing
group aiming at chasing TSEs and examining its physical, social and cultural
effects and taking scientific pictures of them, has recorded four eclipses in
1999 Iran, 2001 Zimbabwe, 2003 Antarctica and 2005 Pacific Ocean respectively.
Mr. Hamid
Khodashenas, director of Sayeh Institute
has moved from
France
to
Niger
with an international astronomical
tour, gathered by astronomers from different countries to observe the upcoming
TSE at
10:10 UT
and
11:10
of Local Time which takes 4 minutes and 5 seconds at the observation point.
This point has the highest probability of clear sky among suitable places of
observation while it is so close to the point of Maximum eclipse which is in
the South of Libya that is 4 minutes and 7 seconds.
Niger
’s population has the majority of Muslims (about
80%) and has the most attractiveness in its tribal and ethnical features
of the people. Deserts form the majority of lands in
Niger
.
